WCAG
InternationalThe W3C technical standard referenced by virtually every accessibility law. Currently at version 2.2 with 3.0 in development.
Section 508
U.S. FederalFederal procurement standard requiring ICT accessibility for government agencies and their contractors. Requires VPAT documentation.
Unruh Act
CaliforniaCalifornia state civil rights law. An ADA violation automatically constitutes an Unruh violation, with statutory damages per occurrence.

International Standards
EAA
EUEU-wide directive requiring accessible digital products and services. Enforcement began June 2025 across all 27 member states.
EN 301 549
EUThe EU harmonized standard for ICT accessibility. Incorporates WCAG 2.2 and extends requirements beyond web to apps, documents, and hardware.
AODA
OntarioAccessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Requires WCAG 2.0 AA for public and private sector organizations.
